Donation to help the Needy through World Food Program

Today it is about sharing with you, how lucky we are to be able to be what we are, living with who we love, doing things that we like....and it would be better if we can help the unfortunate people around the world.

There are many ways of giving back to the society and one of them is by donating to the World Food Program. By doing so, every single $$ that we donate, will be used to provide food to the needy people around the world. Most of us who are staying in our comfort home could not imagine the life of people living in poor. The children there live in hunger and have no future.  I once try to figure out, what will be the future for the under develop countries considering the pace the world is moving forward....and the rich become richer.....and i dare not think futher. But that is not the consideration of the people living in hunger. Surviving and living from day to day has become their ultimate goal and lets join me and help to make a different to these people. Your little donation means alot to the people in hunger.

Thank you.

Lastly, by donating you do not get any tangible gift but here is the letter of thanks from WFP which i would like to share with you. Hope you like it.

Mr ,

I just reviewed our latest numbers and wanted to share with you wonderful news about the huge strides we’ve taken to help the world’s hungry. And to thank you for helping to make a real difference.

As a Hero Fighting Hunger, feeding the world’s hungriest every month, you’re bringing effective solutions to families living on the edge of survival. I can’t thank you enough for your steady support.

You’re part of a fast-growing online movement that has made a tremendous impact in 2010:
  • 15,277 individuals responded to the earthquake in Haiti with small donations that added up to 12 million meals for children.
  • When the people of Pakistan had nowhere else to turn after the floods, you gave hope, collectively donating $1 million online.
  • Freerice players donated 11,791,351,770 grains of rice to the world’s hungriest people. Thousands are playing right now, as you read this.
  • 19,800 took our brand-new Hunger IQ Test, ensuring 19,800 hungry children were fed.
  • More than 3,700 people signed the hunger petition.

This success is based on a simple concept: If everyone does a little, we can collectively make a long-lasting difference for millions of hungry people.

Let’s build on our momentum, starting right now! Today we’re asking individuals worldwide to join an online drive that will help feed the hungry – and it won’t cost you a cent. Our unique online vocabulary game, Freerice, allows you to give rice to the hungry with the click of a mouse.

With each grain of rice, each dollar, each day, each supporter like you, we’re bringing about real change.

One of my favorite stories from 2010 is about an 8-year-old boy from India named Aditya. He learned from his grandfather that millions of kids like him were dying from hunger. In April, he asked his mother to set aside part of his monthly allowance for WFP. Since then, Aditya has fed 160 children. Big change begins with small actions.

I continue to be inspired by the passion and dedication from people like you. On behalf of all of us at WFP and the people we serve, thank you. Let’s dream big for what we can accomplish in 2011 and beyond.

Wishing you happy holidays,

Nancy
